Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College initially held affiliation with Karnataka University, Dharwad. With the establishment of Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, the college subsequently fell under its jurisdiction.

Currently, the college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum[1], and holds approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), NewDelhhi. Additionally, it is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi.

In the year 1980, Sardar Joga Singh, President of Nanak Jhira Trust, laid the foundation for this premier institute. The college commenced its journey with an initial annual intake of 120 students across three disciplines. By 2009, it expanded to admit 570 students annually, spanning seven undergraduate disciplines and one master’s discipline. Presently, the college boasts a student body of 2800.
