Districts of Kalyana Karnataka

The northeastern portion of Karnataka, India, is known as Kalyana Karnataka. Formerly known as Hyderabad-Karnataka, it was officially renamed Kalyana Karnataka in 2019 to more appropriately represent its development-focused identity (“Kalyana” meaning welfare/progress).

Bidar

Kalaburgi

Kalaburgi is the one of the largest district in Kalyana karnataka region. This district includes historical monuments like Gulbarga Fort and Sharana Basaveshwara temple. This district is a major hub of educational industry including lot of universities, libraries, etc. 

Yadgiri

Yadgir became a separate district in 2010 and is known for its historical importance and agriculture. The Yadgir Fort reflects its past under different dynasties. Farming, especially pulses and grains, forms the backbone of the district’s economy, supporting many rural communities.

Raichur

Raichur lies between the Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers, making it an important agricultural region. It is known for rice production and thermal power generation. Historical sites like Raichur Fort highlight its medieval heritage. The district also contributes significantly to irrigation-based farming in northern Karnataka.

Koppal

Koppal is historically significant and closely connected with the Vijayanagara Empire. It is located near Hampi, attracting tourists and researchers. Agriculture, especially paddy and cotton cultivation, supports the local economy, while tourism is growing due to nearby heritage sites.

Ballari

Ballari is an important industrial and mining district, especially known for iron ore mining. It also has strong agriculture and textile sectors. Nearby attractions include Hampi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ballari plays a major role in Karnataka’s mining and export economy.

Vijayanagara

Vijayanagara is the newest district in the region, formed in 2021. It includes historically rich areas linked with the Vijayanagara Empire. Tourism around Hampi drives the local economy. Agriculture and mining also contribute to the district’s development.
